Update on Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE) in the Curriculum for Wales “Last week, the Court of Appeal refused the Claimants permission to appeal the judgment in the High Court last year which dismissed their claims about the RSE Code and guidance on all grounds.” RSE playlist, which includes information for parents and carers in multiple languages.

Curriculum for Wales Guidance update

As part of last January’s updates to the Curriculum for Wales Guidance, changes were included in the Humanities area regarding ‘the history of Wales and the world’. The change made to the guidance were subject to a revised statements of what matters Code, which has now completed its Senedd procedure and has been issued by the Welsh Government.

New supply booking platform: Teacher Booker

A contract has been awarded to Teacher Booker and will be rolled out across Local Authority areas from September as a staggered implementation. More information will follow once these plans are in place.

Salaried PGCE

Following the April 2023 revised teachers’ pay award, Welsh Government will back pay the difference for Salaried PGCE student teachers to the start of the 2022/23 academic year. More information can be found under the Academic Year 2022/23 section of the Salaried PGCE in Education policy and priorities statement.

University of Florida Discovery Event – Seren teachers & learners, Fitzalan High School, 14 June, 5:00pm – 6:30pm

NPQH Review Working Group members

Following the publication of the NPQH review report, we are seeking applications from headteachers who would like to join a working group to develop a revised NPQH programme.  Further details in the attached person specification.  Applications to be submitted by noon on 30 June 2023.

  • Numeracy (Procedural) pilot – Schools are invited to opt into a pilot Numeracy (Procedural) assessment to inform continuous development and improvement.

Careers Wales: Certificate in Careers Leadership

Careers and work-related experiences (CWRE) is a cross-cutting theme in the Curriculum for Wales.  We are offering 15 places on the Level 6 qualification in Careers Leadership for those with responsibility for CWRE in schools and settings across Wales, endorsed by the National Academy of Educational Leadership Wales.
