This morning, Hayden Llewellyn, Chief Executive of the EWC came to the Apollo Business Village to deliver an information session to all Apollo staff. The session covered the background of the EWC, the code of professional conduct and practice, and how to get the most out of your EWC registration. All teachers, support assistants and cover supervisors that work for Apollo are registered with the EWC, so the session was invaluable for our staff.
The aims of the EWC include contributing to improving standards of teaching and quality of learning in Wales and to safeguard the interests of learners, parents and the general public. Hayden reminded Apollo staff of the useful services the EWC offers its members, and encouraged our staff to get involved through panels and blogs.
The EWC also gives members a Professional Learning Passport (PLP), or e-portfolio for staff to record their Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and plan their career path. At Apollo we are keen to promote the CPD of all of our staff and offer courses on our website. Rhian Maggs, also from the EWC, talked our attendees through the PLP and offered advice on the best way to approach their induction period.
We are keen to continue running these sessions in association with the EWC as we really feel that they are beneficial to all Apollo staff.
