Our seminar on behavioural management held on the 26th of November was a resounding success. Led by Faith Olding, a wide variety of techniques were discussed and compared, with each attendee bringing their own unique perspective to the lively discussion.

Feedback was extremely positive from both the newer and more experienced teachers:

"I acquired many important pieces of information which I will now take back to the classroom."

"I have gained confidence..."

"Refreshing and very useful."

"Very informative morning."

The Child Protection Course that was held in Bryngarw Country Park was well attended and all staff involved received a Child Protection Certificate from Mrs Pat Tobin Child Protection Coordinator for BCBC Education & Leisure Community Services, the pictures of the day are now on the website, please do take a look.

During this first half term Apollo office staff supported the 'Pink' Breast Cancer Awareness Day by turning up for work in true 'Pink' fashion, wearing pink pyjamas, dressing gowns and fluffy slippers and collecting a donation from each member of staff for this privilage. This day was thoroughly enjoyed by all and the girls are already deciding what they can do for Children in Need day !!

Finally, we would like to say "good luck" to all our staff for the remainder of the Autumn term and we hope that it will prove to be as successful as the previous weeks.

Child Protection Course

Apollo Teaching Child Protection Course

As part of our dedication to ensuring our staff receive support regarding their Continuing Professional Development, on the 18th of October 2007, Pat Tobin, Child Protection Coordinator for Bridgend County Borough Council Education Leisure and Community Services, delivered a child protection course at Bryngarw House.

The course had an excellent turnout, and offered a valuable insight into the issues surrounding child protection, including an outline of official guidance on the subject, signs that may indicate problems, and the process to be subsequently followed.

Our policy is that all teachers will undertake this training within the next six months, and a wide variety of other courses are also planned for the future.
