Apollo Teaching Services is working with Cariad Pet Therapy to offer schools the chance to take part in the amazing Reading Paws programme totally free of charge.
The Reading Paws programme in schools aims to help children develop literacy skills and build confidence in their reading ability, by reading to a therapy dog.
Idris the therapy dog and his handler Louise recently visited Llansanoor Primary school. Here’s what they had to say:
“What a pleasure it was to be so lucky to have Idris and Louise from Cariad pets in for a visit. Idris enjoyed listening to groups of our Year 2 children read to him. He was very relaxed and the children absolutely loved this experience. Even children who said they were scared of dogs, ended up laying next to Idris for cuddles. He also visited the children in most of the classrooms and was so placid and calm. All the children enjoyed having the dog in school and are now asking if we can have a school dog ourselves. Louise was extremely accommodating and nothing was too much for her. A superb experience, which is highly recommended” – Katie Miller, Acting Deputy Head of Llansannor Primary School.
We still have bookings available for 3 schools. To book a visit for your school please e-mail: Lauraine@apolloteaching.com
